I have a Dell computer and its Microsoft. My cousin and I have the same computer and my cousin's computer has Microsoft Word and Word Perfect. She said that Microsoft Word is hard to find on the computer.I know I have Word Perfect but I don't like Word Perfect.I think Microsoft Word has more facilities.I have been using Word Perfect for a long time but now I'm sick of it!I got my computer in like september 2005.How can I find Microsoft Word on my computer? Please Help!
Do all Microsoft computers include Microsoft Word as well as Word Perfect?
You won't find it. Most computers are 'bundled' with some kind of software. Generally this includes Windows and the things that come with Windows - Internet Explorer, Outlook Express, Notepad, Wordpad, MS Paint and so on (just very basic stuff). Then the sellers do deals with the software companies and sell stuff with the computer like MS Works (which often comes with a version of MS Word) or Wordperfect or some other basic wordprocessing package.
If you want MS Word, you will have to buy it. However, Wordperfect isn't so bad. It has most of the functions that Word has - they just may be accessed a little differently. It will also save documents in a format that Word can read: go for Save As and then in the Files of Type dropdown, look for either MS Word format or for Rich Text Format or RTF.
Reply:I have the exact same problem. My computer is Dell and doesn't have Microsft Word, but has stupid Wordperfect. You'll have to buy Office 2003 from circuit city or something. You can also download a free 60-day trial version of Office 2003 from microsft's website, but that's temporary. DO NOT, however, download any free versions of Microsoft Word from any websites. Word is not available for free downloading from the internet legally, and if you download it from the internet it will not be the genuine version, it will be a pirated version.
Reply:NO!
Reply:You shouldn't confuse the Microsoft products that form the operating system or the "platform" and those other Microsoft software that run on it just like any other software made by other venders.
MS Word is not a part of standard windows operating system rather it is part of the MS Office software bundle.
However, it is normal for some computers to be packaged with additional software apart from the windows operating system (it is never free but included in price). It is unlikely that your PC came with both Word perfect and MS Word installed as logically they might have offered it to you as an option or they decided it for you. So you’d probably have to buy MS Office separately.
Just a note: There are no “Microsoft computers” (thank god). We still call them “PCs” (used to be called IBM PC compatible) or “Windows based”.
Reply:MS Office products usually never come FREE with computers. You need to buy them separately. Only HIGH end computers may come with it loaded.
Word Perfect has been pretty must crushed by the # of MS/Word users...
To see if MS/Word is on your computer--- look under the c:\program files folder!
Reply:No, they don't come with windows unless your manufacturer preinstalls them. But, use openoffice, it has got more features than microsoft word or wordperfect and it's free.

Reply:you should get a commodore 64, they rock!
go to CompUSA, they will fix you up:)
Reply:Word is a separate application from Microsoft that is not a part of the core Windows operating system. It is sometimes installed on new machines, but not always.
A basic word processor (from an older version of Word) IS part of the core OS, it is called "WordPad". Click Start / Run, type "wordpad" without the quotes, and click OK to launch it, or look under the Accessories menu.
You can also purchase MS Word and install it.
Alternatively if you are not a heavy Word user, but prefer Word when you DO word processing, try http://www.ajaxwrite.com which is a free web-based word processor. It looks and works like Word and saves files in Word format. You will need to be connected to the internet to use it though.
If you would like a good, easy to use and free word processor or office suite, try Open Office. Visit http://www.openoffice.org for more information.
Reply:No. These programs are part of what is called Microsoft office. While some vendors (like Dell) will include MS Office with a computer, they will charge you extra for the additional software.
Reply:If you dont hav it, then you need to get it.. download.com might have it. check it out.
Reply:you must purchase word fron mic
Reply:They used to make Microsoft Word and Microsoft Office come free with Windows up till 98 version and now they don't automatically put it on there. If you want Word you'll have to buy it and it is very, very expensive. If I were you I would get Open Office it's a free program you can download from the internet and it is exactly like Microsoft Word, and also you can save something on Open Office and open it in Word later, like when you need to print something at school.
