Microsoft?

Do You think Microsoft will create more Windows after Vista? How many do think they will be?Will any new company destory them in the computer business?

Microsoft?
Microsoft will definatly keep on crating more windows. Even if anyone else makes a better OS, Microsoft can just buy them and take over. Unless it is Apple, which they maybe able to.
Reply:Yes. They will continue for a VERY long time.
Reply:I wouldn't be surprised to see the downfall in the next few years. Very rarely does someone continue to have dominance for this long in the computer industry. Look no further then IBM, Intel, Apple etc. The problem is MS has themselves so tightly spun around every IT manager's finger it'll take years to convince them there's actual better products out there. Most Microsoft shops are very anti anything Microsoft, which is likely more due to the lack of understanding / knowledge of other systems so they do whatever they can to ensure their company stays Microsoft (to ensure they keep their job).

I think as the previous person mentioned, if anyone can steal MS's thunder it will be Google. Google has a userbase who are very loyal, and it may just convince them to check out whatever Google has to offer regardless of whether its any good. I'd also love to see Apple release OSX for intel PC's.. I know it would have the potential to hurt their hardware business but its so much better of an operating system.

As well Ubuntu has a kick a$$ linux bundle.. its unlikely linux will ever steal enough users away to hurt Microsoft though unless Google somehow got involved and threw a ton of $ at it.
Reply:Given the time frame between release of Windows XP SP2 and Vista, figure on more releases of Vista, as that is the replacement for XP...as the technology keeps on evolving, expect Microsoft to be on thecutting edge of new os's based on Vista and whatever the next OS is called.
Reply:Google is going to become a good competitor to Microsoft with a new operating system supposedly coming out by 2012.

But Microsoft will hold it's own no matter what. They're a solid company. I see many more versions of an operating system built by them. I think that the market will actually move more towards hand held devices as well. It is going to be exciting to see what happens in the next decade or so.

Cheers, and good luck. Happy Holidays :)
Reply:No 'company' wants to waste their resources fighting a bunch of loony toon characters with lots of cash they got from felon theft, as Microsoft is convicted of, and in October 2006, had their probation extended for THREE MORE YEARS!!!

Even the pros agree that it looks like 'the gang who couldn't shoot straight' over at Redmond. And, truly, that is a great shame and a horrible waste of some really fantastic resources!

But, the idiots at the top who have "Monkey Boy Script' films running on youtube, have fragmented all the teams, and have them competing with each other, instead of all working to contribute their best towards a creative goal!

So, what is taking Microsoft down, is their own internal SNAFU, plus the opportunity for the million grassroots programmers who are scattered over the world, and who contribute to the 600+ FREE and Open Source Operating Systems, and the 135,000 FOSS, because they have a great passion and love of their art.

The 600 FREE GNU/Linux systems are each hosted, built, offered, by small cottage industry and a few huge conglomerates. Trying to stomp them all out would deplete Microsoft of all their financial resources.

Now, 83% of ALL businesses report they run on the Internet on Linux. They also reported, in a recent survey, that they run, or, will switch most, if not all, internal systems over to GNU/Linux before they would go to VISTA.

Microsoft runs 45,000 GNU/Linux computers for Microsoft.com, Hotmail.com, MSN.com, all routers, firewalls, and the Lab 400.

You should try a Live CDrom, that boots in CDrom, Runs in RAMdisc, can save to the Microsoft folder! Virus proof, and upto 50X faster than Microsoft! Includes 1900 games, programs, suites, browsers, MP3 and Ogg media apps. http://pclinuxos.com
