Microsoft itself says Intel motherboards are NOT compatible for Windows XP!!?

While planning for some hardware for my company I checked the Hardware Compatibility List on Microsoft Website. (Hardware Compatibility list is made by Windows Quality Laboratory and they test hardware or software in intense situation after that if the hardware is qualified they give certification and logo "Desinged for Windows XP". Microsoft recommends only use products listed in HCL. Otherwise they can cause problem in your Operating System.) In motherboard section for Windows XP, Intel motherboard is not listed! This means that Intel mohterboards are NOT designed for XP and may not work correctly!! Have a doubt on what I'm saying? Checking yourself is always better - http://winqual.microsoft.com/HCL/Product... Please comment.

Vishal, EDIT: Well that link didn't work! Go up to Company, click on the down arrow, and scroll down to Intel. Now go to the right, and click on Go. Yes, Intel's are compatible! I was using my Intel Lakewood mobo for WinXP, I recently switched over to Ubuntu 7.10,('bout six months ago, actually!)
Reply:it does not mean it is not compatible. Windows charges companies an absoluet fortune to put the "windows certified" sticker on products and software so most manufacturers do not bother to get their stuff certified by m$ it does not mean it will not work
Reply:That is why you never buy a dell
Reply:The link didn't work for me either, in Firefox...

Had to switch to IE6

Good thing I have IETab - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox...

Anyway, found a closer link.....

64 bit - http://winqual.microsoft.com/HCL/Product...

32 bit - http://winqual.microsoft.com/HCL/Product...

Both of these list tons of Intel motherboards, as well as hundreds of other boards.

Good try at mass hysteria, though...%26lt;g%26gt;
Reply:it is a good idea to ignore that since in install Windows ask if you still want to install the driver. if you say no then you will not be able to use your computer which is more a Intel computer than a Windows computer. Most of the Compatibility List is based on Microsoft not being responsible for the hardware. if they did not say that, then people would call and say that your software is suppose to make my pc work and you must fix that Intel chipset or motherboard
