Microsoft's Problem ( What should i do? )?

This is my home PC, recently i installed windows XP by taking a CD from my friend.


When i use internet in my computer a waring come from Microsoft that " This copy of Windows did not pass genuine validation. The product key found on this computer was not assigned by Microsoft. and you may be in Victim of software counterfeiting"





I want to know





1. why this problem come in my PC.





2. Whats Victim Microsoft can be create for me.





3. What Should i do

The problem is easy:





- You took a product from Microsoft which you did not pay for.


- Microsoft realized that and doesn't let you use it.





Solution:





- Pay for your software the next time. What you did is considered stealing!
Reply:well if its your friends copy of windows and he/she has registered it, then by you trying to install it on your pc and register it ( or if windows trys to validate it) then its going to say its not valid......COS ITS ALREADY RUNNING ON YOUR FRIENDS PC !!!!!! its microsofts way of stopping 'Theft'





Buy a copy for yourself.......!!!!

Reply:it is a copyright software that is why that warning came up. Any software of windows are not free. They charge you for it. You can buy a new windows XP CD. Or you can use the Cd to restore what you have before. You should get this cd when you bought your PC.
Reply:You got this problem because the CD your friend gave you was detected as a pirate copy.





Don't worry about being a victim, that's just spin. It's just Microsoft's nice way of saying it's possible you are not the actual pirate.





You do not have to do anything. You will not be able to perform any Microsoft updates though.

Reply:The reason your getting that is because of the fact you got the disc from a friend. The disc has a CD-Key/Product-Key that is registered to the computer that has the Windows installed from that specific CD. Because of that, MIcrosoft thinks you stole your copy and will give that error message. Best (and legal) thing to do is to get a new copy of Windows XP.

These "false positives" are just one more problem with Microsoft and their Genuine Disadvantage Tool. (Ok, MS calls it Genuine Advantage tool, I call it like it is).
