Error for Microsoft Office 2000 in Windows Vista?

I own a Windows Vista Home Basic Compaq Laptop. I have the Microsoft Office 2000 Professional CD. I have used it before on this computer, installing everything except Office Access and Office Outlook. (That means I installed Microsoft Word, Microsoft Power Point, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Publisher). The installation had worked perfectly before. Today I put in the same disk to try to install Outlook. The setup program opens normally. I click the button to speciffically add or remove programs and features. I select Outlook, and click "Run from my Computer." I then hit Update. The installer opens, but in about 2-3 seconds, the following error message pops up:

Error 1401: could not create key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Wi...

CurrentVersion\Installer\InProgress. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.

I have tried 3 times, and the same thing happens. What should I do?

Error for Microsoft Office 2000 in Windows Vista?
This is msi (Windows Installer) error.

If you receive error 1401 when trying to install Outlook, you will need to disable user account control.

In Windows Vista the easiest way to disable user account control is to open the control panel and type user account into the search box.

Click the link for “Turn User Account Control (UAC) on or off”

Uncheck the box “Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer”

Then after restarting your computer you should then be able to install Outlook.
Reply:Assuming your software is genuine, log on as your system's administrator, because it doesn't look like you are.
Reply:Forget about Microsoft Office! You can get OpenOffice.org for free at this link and it does everything Microsoft Office does: http://www.openoffice.org. You can even import all your existing documents to use in OpenOffice.org and you can save your documents in Microsoft Office format if you need to transfer it to another computer with Microsoft Office. Best of all it's all free!

OpenOffice.org Writer = Microsoft Word

OpenOffice.org Calc = Microsoft Excel

OpenOffice.org Impress = Microsoft Powerpoint

Good Luck!
