Should Microsoft Go for Open Source?

I am fan of Microsoft.I am a .Net developer.I love programming in .Net framework.I know the basics of Java,J2ee,Ejb etc..I recently started thinking about Linux. When I compared the Kernels of Both I have to accept the Hard fact that Linux is more powerfull than Windows.I started thinking why Giant Microsoft is unable to Make Powerfull Kernel like Linux. So the Question arised should Microsoft go for Open Source and If they are not going for It what is the reason behind it.I really want to know ur Views,Ideas from a user and Developers Point of View.Microsoft new O.S Windows Vista is really powerfull when compared to Linux or Linux is still the powerfull O.S in this World.

Should Microsoft Go for Open Source?
You already asked this!

I say again:

Linux is used by a lot of technical users. They are not very user friendly for people who just want to use the internet to browse and download things easily.

Linux is more for programmers and technical people who is familiar with at least one programming language, most especially unix.

I think if Microsoft goes for open source, then they will target the tech users, but it wont be their #1 consumer.
Reply:Microsoft key products are its office applications and it would be econimically negligent to its shareholders if they made those applications open source.

But Development tools may be a good idea to open source

The next operating system I will be looking purchasing Apples X
Reply:Microsoft is already making a lot of money. They dont need to have other promotions for their product.
